<p>XOWA currently consolidates visits to the same page as one entry. For example, 3 visits to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth would show up only once with the <code>date</code> being the most recent one. The <code>date</code> for the previous two entries would be lost. This option retains dates for all 3 entries by logging each visit to a separate file.

<p>XOWA can be slow opening up wikis -- as much as 1 minute. This may be because SQLite opens the database with an exclusive file lock, but cannot do so quickly because the file is read-only.
<p>Unfortunately, read-only detection becomes complicated across operating systems -- especially on Windows. As such XOWA provides these alternate methods in case one doesn't work.

They are used throughout a wiki to perform functions ranging from unit conversion (like converting kilometers to miles), or generating large pieces of HTML (like rendering entire InfoBoxes). However, these templates are the "slowest" pieces of wikitext to parse, particularly if they call other templates or Scribunto</p>
<p>Ideally, popups should skip templates that produce structural html (like infoboxes), while still trying to render templates that do smaller functions (like converting units). This option attempts a heuristic that says "if the template is long, assume it's an infobox and should be skipped". It counts the total number of bytes in a template, and skips it if it's greater than the max.
